Why some people are often on my Facebook wall?

Of the more than 300 friends that I have on Facebook, I'd say about 2 or 3 dozen (about 10 percent) are regularly in my RSS feed. Do not get me wrong, there is no need to see what my primary school friends are every day but why I tend to see the same people over and over again? Is it all driven by an algorithm, because it seems focused.
